Oriental Spruce
Scientific Name: Picea orientalis
An evergreen with a very pleasing personality. Fine-textured with dark-green color, Oriental Spruce is possibly the most refined Spruce in the universe. The cultivar ‘Gowdy’ has the typical, dark-green foliage with a more compact growth and informal growth habit. New foliage is light green and contrasts nicely with the older needles. Oriental Spruce makes a great appearance in the winter landscape with the dark-green needles contrasting with a fresh snowfall. The foliage also makes a sensational addition to interior decorating. The obvious use for such an outstanding plant is as a specimen. Oriental Spruce also tolerates difficult growing conditions quite well.
